Hey guys, Jimmy Chouteau here with Medicare, We Care, and I want to address a couple of questions that relate to teachers that are going to be retiring and going on to Medicare. And some of the questions that I get asked are: “Jimmy, I worked. I worked outside of being a teacher. So I draw some Social Security, but then I have my teacher’s retirement. Is it going to be offset with the provisions that are set up?”
Some of those things that we addressed with them are how to evaluate, how much they’re going to be drawing from Social Security, how much for their teacher’s retirement, how that works.
One of the other things that we address with them is they asked, “Hey Jimmy, I was told that if I leave my teacher’s retirement plan for my health insurance, that I can never go back and join that plan later on.” That is true. That many clients, that’s what their options are. But here’s what they ask: “Well, if I leave it, do I ever want to go back to it? Why would I want to go back to it? Because I was paying so much money for it at retirement age, or my deductibles were so high, why does it even make sense for me to ever want to go back to it?”
So those are some of the things that we’re asking clients and helping you evaluate what is best for you. What are your health needs? What is your financial situation? What are your deductibles that you want to keep your plan within? So those are the things that we’ll look at. We make sure that we’re going to find the best plan that’s going to be for you for your retirement years so you’re not having to worry if I’m leaving my employer plan, but I choose the best option for me.
Alright. Thank you guys so much. Look forward to helping you all.
